Born in Hungary, Moholy-Nagy was, like Muche, a member of "Der Sturm". He joined the Bauhaus from 1923-1928, taking over for Itten. Besides leading the "Metal" workshop he also devoted much of his time to typography and photography. He worked in close collaboration with his wife, photographer Lucia Moholy. Starting in 1937 he led the New Bauhaus in Chicago and subsequent design schools.
