around the Web.

FREEWARE |
HyperTerminal Private Edition
HyperTerminal PE is the more powerful sibling of the terminal program that
comes with Windows 95, Windows 98, and NT 4.0. Hilgraeve makes
it available for free for private
use and the program is also well supported.

SHAREWARE |
PCWin Resource Center
Your one stop shop for all "must have" Windows shareware and
freeware. Using an easy to read table format, each software listing
contains version number, file size, a link to the author's homepage and a
review. You don't waste time downloading
what you don't need.

FinePrint Printer Driver
Here is a utility for Windows users that should pay for itself shortly:
Select Single Track Software's printer driver from the printer pull down
menu and have it print 2, 4 or 8 pages on one
sheet. Moreover, the
full formatting of the original page remains intact, fonts, graphics and
all, a luxury that typically requires a Postscript printer. It is a great
way to print out Web pages, long Word documents and source code.
I've been using it for years and highly recommend
it.
Works with all versions of Windows and you can download a free trial version.

Personal MicroCosms and Pocket-Sized
Software
Eric Bergmann-Terrell offers a varied collection of Windows shareware
programs. Among them the the Astronomy Lab and Vault. I tried out
Vault: Vault stores random notes as collapsible outlines. With its
build-in dialer you can use Vault as an address book and it also makes a
great place for storing the addresses of those Web sites you are planning
on visiting. To boot, Vault uses Exchange so you can email your note
directly from inside Vault! Other offering include games, a fractal
viewer a photo-database for your digital photographs and more.
