Plan for a BS Degree in Information Technology (IT)
Bill Campbell, Robert Cohen (CS), Oscar
Gutierrez and Jean-Pierre Kuilboer (CM) are developing a BS in IT. Our hope is
to have it replace the current BA in Computer Science. This page seeks to track
that development.
Draft Proposals
NB: The
following items are all drafts. Nothing has been decided; the
drafts are only working documents to help us think through the program –
there's nothing being promised here.
We just want to operate openly.

Accreditation Criteria
ABET accreditation criteria appear to be in flux right now. Bill's summaries of two versions appear
below. They differ principally in the
number of credits of IT courses required (40 vs. 45), and the nature of the
faculty. Asking for 45 credits
isn't onerous since there isn't the need for many math courses. At least half of the teaching should be
done by full-time faculty committed to the program.
