Risk Analysis

Prof Xu realises that the DNA sequences the Species Editor calculates for each allele are simpler than she would like them to be. They do not reflect the fact that many different sequences can encode the same protein, nor the fact that different proteins can have the same behavior when they occur as alleles.

She alters some of the calculated sequences in an editor or with GX and PI, using what she knows (and hopes her students will learn) about the extent of the ambiguity.

She finds the task tedious and error prone, so hopes that the computer science graduate students building MGX will have time this year to automate some of the process.
