Job Title: Technology Associate - Software
Description:
The Technology Associate will start as a member of a technology team
supporting the entire portfolio of investment and financial engineering
applications at Putnam:
- Trading systems - Fixed, Equity and Derivatives
- Financial Engineering Applications - Equity and Fixed Income
Research, Analytics, Risk, Attribution and Contribution To Return
applications.
- Common Components - E-Trading, Compliance, Cash Management etc.
The person will be provided comprehensive class room training in technical,
business and professional skills. "On the Job" training and mentoring by
senior professionals will be available to complement class room training.
Following the training, the candidate will be placed in one of three teams
which support Putnam's Investment division.
Responsibilities:
- Primary job function is to provide technical support to designated
applications in the investment area
- Duties will be technical in nature and will provide ample opportunities to gain in depth knowledge of applications
- Teams are responsible to ensure continuous application operations and support smooth business functions in multiple time zones
- Team structure will facilitate rotation within technical support organization and an opportunity to broaden applications knowledge
- Team members will have opportunities to move into development initiatives at the end of program based on merit
Required Skills:
- Understanding and hands on experience with relational databases -
preferably Oracle/SQL
- Familiarity with scripting, i.e. Unix/Linux shell scripting
- Exposure to applications programming like C++, Java
- Knowledge of servers and networks and ability to understand multi-server configurations
- Ability and desire to learn business and technology
- Able to work within the overall standards set by Putnam for application development
- Team oriented, flexible, and creative
- Very responsive and high level commitment to assigned tasks
- Helpful, positive attitude
Additional Information:
Bachelor's Degree with focus in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering. Applicants must be U.S. workers eligible to accept employment in the United States on a full-time basis.
