Here's what to do to wrap up your successful project and successful semester.

For your client:

• Fix bugs.

• Check documentation to make sure it is complete and accurate (and free of spelling errors).

• Make sure licensing information is appropriately displayed on web page, in on line help, in install script and in code.

• Visit all the links on your project web page and update content as appropriate. You may want to revise your vision statement so that it reflects what you actually built.

For future developers:

• Clean the wiki. Deprecate out of date pages so that future developers don't waste time reading them.

• Bugs you haven't had time to fix should be well described.

• Features you haven't had time to implement should be documented as much as is reasonable. (Short stories and use cases appropriately flagged can do the job.)

• Discuss any refactorings you think your architecture requires in order to make it easier to improve and maintain.

• Your (one step) build should be easy to run and to modify.

• Check that your code is clean and consistently commented.

• Post the final version of your code on the project web page for download (as required by the GPL) since you can't rely on the svn server remaining available. (zip is OK).

For me (due at the last class, May 13):

• Hard copy of your updated resume (posted on your updated web page).

• A description of what you contributed to your project.

• Hard copy of some code you wrote for your project. (I hope you all wrote some code. If you didn't, provide hard copy of something you did write.)

• A short essay in which you reflect on the course. Here are some questions you can consider - but feel free to make up your own, or ignore these. Don't just write an essay in which you devote one paragraph to each one in turn. Organize your thoughts around your experience.

  What did you learn? What was interesting (or boring)? How (if at all) has your attitude toward (some part of) software engineering (or computer science in general) changed? What do you think you might remember from this course N years from now? What do you think will be useful (in life, thought or your job)? How hard did you work? When I teach this course again next spring what should I keep? What should I change (add or subtract)? How might I use the class time better?

  What grade do you think you have earned in this course? Why? I will take your answer into account when I assign your grade - but reserve the right to enter a higher (or lower) grade than you think you deserve.

There is no final exam. How could there be? I will probably decide to schedule individual conferences during reading and exam period - a real performance review would work that way.
