Grading
I determine final grades using a rough curve. There are usually some A
students in the class.
The bottom grade is not always
an F, or even a C (which for a graduate student is nearly equivalent
to failing). I start every semester assuming that every student can
learn and wants to learn.
Nothing would please me more than for every student to earn an A.
There is no prescribed fraction of the grade for work of any particular
type.
That said, here are the kinds of work I weigh
- Written homeworks
- Class presentations
- Projects
- Class participation
- Exams (there may not be any in this course)
