to homework 1. Then write
a sentence or two explaining what you will do differently this time
based on what you discovered there.
Common Sense, exercise 2.1. You need not do any
arithmetic to answer this question correctly. You should do the
research called for, and then write a few paragraphs about what
strike you as the most interesting and informative parts of the data.
Common Sense, exercise 2.4. (You may need to re-do
problem 2.2, or do enough of it to
be able to do this problem.)
Common Sense, exercise 2.6.
The front page of the September 9 Boston Globe provided this
information on Red Sox ticket prices:
Which ticket price increased the most?
Before you jump to a conclusion, find the absolute and
relative increases
in ticket prices in each category. (Express the relative increase
as a percent.)

you take inflation into account?

According to Enrollment Services, there were
13,200 students
enrolled at UMass Boston in fall 2007. Enrollment Services
reported
that 837 of these students are in the College of Nursing.
Calculate the percentage of students in the College of Nursing.
In fall 2006 there were 2,426 new undergraduate
students. In fall 2007 there are 2,539 new undergraduate
students. Find the percentage change in undergraduate students
from fall 2006 to fall 2007.
In fall 2006 the College of Nursing enrolled 690
undergraduates. The
enrollment of undergraduates in the College of Nursing increased by
20.4% in fall 2007. What is the enrollment in fall 2007?
Enrollment Services reported that there are 4434
undergraduates in the
College of Liberal Arts in fall 2007. They calculated that this
is a
5.8% increase from last fall's enrollment in the College of Liberal
Arts. How many undergraduates were enrolled in the College of
Liberal
Arts in fall 2006?
