The ruins of Lough Eske Castle
Lough Eske Castle

Me admiring the view, and standing in the main entrance.
Castle Castle

Various views of Lough Eske, which is four odd miles from the Town

The first picture shows Lough Eske from the South, near Lough Eske Castle's Gate House and the Presbyterian Church. The middle picture shows the Lake from the Bluestack Mountains to the West. In this picture Harvey's Point (an Hotel and Resturant) is on the pensunula jutting out to the left. The Castle is off the picture to the right. The third picture shows the lake as seen from the bridge on the northern shore.

The waterfall shown below is on the trail to Lough Belshade. Which is in the mountains to the North of Lough Eske.
Falls above Lough Eske

The walk up to the falls is fairly pleasant and is on a well marked lane. This is the view looking down the lane back the way we came.
View back from the Falls.

After the Falls the going gets a lot rougher, the lane disappers and your basically walking on wet marshy bog. Don't hike up there alone and without proper gear, think boots, raingear and check the forecast before hand. The clouds can rush in very quickly, and you can get disorientated and lost in no time.
Clouds rushing in!

Below is lake at Glenveagh, west of Letterkenny. It's a national park, the lands were sold to the State in 1975 by Henry McIlheney, whose family own the Tabasco Sauce company. In 1981 he donated Glenveagh Castle and gardens to the state.
