Rosanne Vetro

Data Mining Research Group
Department of Computer Science
University of Massachusetts Boston

I received a Ph.D. degree and a M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Boston. I also received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

My research area is machine learning and data mining with application to bioinformatics, multimedia content, and optimization. My research interests also include studying and applying transformations to dissimilarity spaces that can improve the performance of classifiers and clustering algorithms.

In the past, I had worked as a team leader in the Research and Development Engineering Department of TV Globo - a Brazilian broadcast company - and also held a visiting researcher position at the Tokyo Science & Technical Research Labs of NHK - a Japanese broadcast company. As part of my work at NHK, I contributed to the development of the ISO/IEC MPEG-7 International Standard.
