Student employment opportunities Summer 2008
SERL seeks UMB students for summer employment in the projects
below. The ideal student will be able to work on all of them, but
students partially qualified should also apply. Some will lead to
further employment opportunity in the fall semester.

UMB CS professors who can speak to your qualifications.
- Database backed web applications.
We have several projects requiring knowledge of java servlets and JSP
as well as some exposure to Apache Tomcat; Also requires experience
with MySQL. There are several
Java-based scheduling software projects. Some of these require
being on call to restart servers (usually remotely). Some require
building enhancements and correcting bugs.
- FileMaker based scheduling software project. Principally UI
development in Filemaker.
- Professional Development course assistant.
This requires assisting in lab sessions in August and perhaps
before, approximately 3 hours/week. Besides strong Java skills,
applicant should ne good at explaining Java.

SERL will develop and offer advanced professional development
courses at your site or ours to meet your needs. In concert with you,
our faculty will design and deliver courses in a number of fields
where our faculty are are internationally recognized experts and first
class teachers. These include:
