Chancho Blanco is a large canopy tree common in the more seasonal forest habitats on the Pacific slope near Monteverde, Costa Rica. While apparently undescribed, it is abundant in the area, clearly distinct from related species, and recognized by locals as a good firewood source. Based on current knowldge, the species is endemic to the area.
