Hi Robert,

Gloucester holds a Preservation Awards ceremony annually to pay tribute
to a wide array of projects that fall under the following categories:
–    Archaeology
–    Adaptive reuse
–    Education and outreach
–    Landscape preservation
–    Restoration and rehabilitation
–    Local preservationist
–    Documentation of Gloucester’s history
–    Individual lifetime achievement

Our 2025 program will actually be held tonight in our historic, 1870
City Hall where we'll distribute 12 awards to 20 people in 5 categories.
Each recipient gives an 8-10 minute PowerPoint presentation to the
audience, which usually draws about 100 people, including our mayor and
a few other dignitaries. The ceremony is two-hours long and has been a
well-received community event.

It takes a lot of planning and effort, and is run by our Historical
Commission (currently 8 members), which is separate from our Historic
District Commission. We work on this project for about 5-6 months,
starting with soliciting nominees from the community in January.

Every year we post the program brochure, combined slide presentations,
and recording (done by a local studio) on the Historical Commission
website: https://gloucester-ma.gov/112/Preservation-Awards

I have attached our Program Overview, which provides all recipients and
categories since 2015, so you can see the type of awards we give and to
whom. Let me know if you have other questions - and best wishes!

Regards,
- Susan
