[MassHistPres] Underground Railroad plaques

Brookline has two such sites.  The decision was made to have the DPW mount bronze plaques on poles on the sidewalk in front of the houses.  I’m sure the owners were consulted.  The idea was to make information available where pedestrians were, rather than on the houses, one of which was well set back behind a wall.  See below.
