[MassHistPres] Infill-Preservation Award Programs

Chris,
In 2022, the Ipswich Historical Commission awarded the Mary P. Conley Award to the Isaac Lord property (83 High Street, Ipswich) as a useful local example. The award honored a preservation project that also delivered contextual infill on the parcel, even though ‘new construction’ is not a separate category in that program. 2022 Mary Conley Awards for Historic Preservation – Historic Ipswich<https://historicipswich.net/2023/08/08/2022-mary-conley-awards-for-historic-preservation/>
For a program that explicitly calls out compatible new work, Worcester has a ‘Compatible Construction’ award which recognizes “new construction that is visually compatible in mass, scale and style with historic buildings in the immediate vicinity and contributes to the preservation of a neighborhood.” Worcester Preservation Awards | City of Worcester<https://www.worcesterma.gov/planning-regulatory/boards/historical-commission/preservation-awards>
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Lindsay

Subject: [MassHistPres] Infill-Preservation Award Programs
Hi, for those communities that run a local preservation awards program, I am looking for some examples of an award given out for infill/new construction. Chris.
