On behalf of the Mass History Alliance, I would like to invite members of
Local Historic District Commissions established within the past four years
to join us for a Conversation on the Common.
The MHA CoTC program is a quarterly event involving a virtual (Zoom)
discussion. On Nov. 6th we are hosting our next CoTC titled *"Keys to
success from those who have done **it”* . This one hour conversation will
feature panelists from both successful and failed LHDs. In this second
Conversation, we will ask both successful and (previously) unsuccessful
commissions what works and what doesn’t as you bring a local historic
district proposal to the town for an eventual vote at town meeting or in
the city council. How long should this take? What if there is a group of
vocal opponents? How might you combat rumors and false narratives? Are
there precedents to follow? How can community engagement bring in those who
doubt rather than leaving them outside?

If you are interested in joining this conversation as a panelist, please
let Pleun or me know?

…..Mike
