[MassHistPres] Now Accepting LOIs for Massachusetts Historic Preservation Matching Grant Program

I am writing to ask for your assistance in helping to publicize this
matching grant opportunity. Our organization, Preservation Massachusetts,
is currently accepting Letters of Inquiry for the Massachusetts Historic
Preservation Matching Grant Program from eligible 501(c)3 organizations
that own or hold a long term lease on an historic property. Active
religious organizations and schools are not eligible for funding per
funder’s guidelines. Eligible grant projects are for primarily exterior
work.



Although many previous grant recipients have been historical societies and
museums, social service and arts nonprofit organizations have also received
funding. A list of previous grantees can be found on our website at

The grant is meant to be used for projects that can be completed in a
relatively short period of time. For this upcoming round, funds will be
awarded in May 2027 and projects need to be completed by December 31, 2027.
So basically "shovel ready" types of projects are the best fit for
this grant.



Also, the grant money is meant to be impactful to a project, so the
strongest applications are the ones that  identify and specify exactly
where the grant funds will be used. For example, a strong application
describes how  funds will be used to install a security system, or repair a
roof, or restore five windows-- not  just be a contribution to a $20
million pool of project money. If it is a larger project, grant funds that
help to complete one smaller phase also make compelling applications.
