Plan: Talk about term paper (perhaps too late since topic possibilities due today). Then one single difficult topic: reconstructing mean, median and mode from a histogram. I will work Wing Aero backwards – and work the averages in reverse order. The mode is easiest, then the median, then the mean. We’ll do the calculations first by hand, then in Excel (that’s our standard model – the hand calculation tells you what to expect, so you can detect errors you make in Excel).
The new Excel idea is that of copying a formula, watching Excel adjust cell indices automatically.
This is a lot to cover. It’s the last class before spring break, so there will be lots of time for the students to forget absolutely everything by the time we reconvene.
