No Tuesday 4/3 blog entry here since I gave an exam. On which students did not do well (on average). I hope to see better results on the take-home redone questions they turn in today.
Some of the term paper proposals are moving along nicely – and some are nearly nonexistent.
Plan for today – linear equations in Excel. Really. Scatter plot and formula. Slope and intercept. Perhaps show the generality of linear models by comparing bills with Tamworth sheet – relabel for maximum generality.
Can I get as far as regression? (Do I want to?) If so, try it for energy consumption.
Just two exam grades over 50. I hope the redos are better.
Worked on slope and intercept, doing electricity bill and power consumption regression in parallel. I’ll see how it worked when I see the homework. Some of that needs to go into the book – when I remove Pisa!
Advised about half the class to take the course pass/fail.
