Designing a Simple, Accessible Mindfulness Assistant for Older Adults

Project Overview

The Multilingual Virtual Assistant Mindfulness App is a digital wellness tool designed to help older adults participate in guided mindfulness sessions. The application uses a conversational virtual assistant that walks users through short mindfulness exercises through a simple and accessible interface.

The system focuses on usability for older adults by emphasizing clear navigation, large readable text, and minimal interaction steps. The first version supports Korean while the architecture allows additional languages to be added later.

The project demonstrates how AI-guided digital assistants can support mental wellness programs while maintaining accessibility for aging populations.

BUILD NOW (MVP)

Guided Mindfulness Session

Users can start a guided mindfulness session led by a virtual assistant providing step-by-step instructions.

Single Session Demo

The system includes at least one complete mindfulness session lasting approximately 10–20 minutes.

Language Selection

Users can select their preferred language. The first supported language is Korean.

Simple Progress Tracking

The application shows whether a session has been completed.

Older Adult Friendly Interface

Large fonts, high contrast, and minimal steps ensure usability for older adults.

Basic Engagement Metrics

The system records simple usage metrics such as session completion and time spent.

Support Ticket Submission

Users can submit a simple troubleshooting ticket if technical problems occur.
