Identification:
Spots on forewing white- not yellow, antennae black, bold white spots at hindwing apex.

Wingspan: 58-67mm

Forewing length: 33-34mm


Local distribution: Uncommon on upper Pacific slope, more abundant at mid-elevation on Atlantic slope (Refugio Eladio).

Similar species: Napeogenes peredia and N. tolosa, Callithomia hezia, Mechanitis polymnia

Species range: Mexico to South America

Abundance: Uncommon

Larval host plants:

Columnea consanguinea (Gesneriaceae)
Columnea glabra (Gesneriaceae)
Drymonia conchocalyx (Gesneriaceae)?

Early stages: Solitary

Comments: The only ithomiine in Costa Rica that uses species of Gesneriaceae as larval hosts.
