Identification:
Medial yellow band of forewing continuous but narrow, black markings pronounced above and below, ground color rust brown.

Wingspan: 70-87mm

Forewing length: 34mm


Local distribution: From cloud forest on the Pacific slope down to 700 m on Atlantic side; rare on Pacific side at 1300-1500 m.

Similar species: Mechanitis polymnia, M. lysimnia, Melinaea ethra

Non ithomiine mimics: Dismorphia amphiona, D. eunoe, Eueides isabella, Heliconius ismenius

Species range: Mexico to South America

Abundance: Uncommon
