Thanks for posting this, Krissy.  I was about to send out a similar
message.  This spring, I will be presenting on demolition delay at an out
of state conference with an audience that will include commission members
that mostly do not have demolition delay.  I’ll be talking a lot about how
demolition delay works in our state and I’ll be showing examples of
demolition delay success stories from Massachusetts.


I, as well, could definitely use some demolition delay success stories -
especially examples from just the last few, maybe 5-6 years.


I’ll be organizing the successes into categories something like this:

Establishing a local historic district during the delay period

Moving a building intact

Advocacy and encouragement

Transfer of ownership

Negotiation with other local boards

Negotiation with the developer

Utilizing funding and incentives for rehabilitation

Utilizing funding and incentives for protection


If you have a demolition delay success you'd like to share, please let me
